The suspense and terror were good, but the story dragged somewhat as I kept wondering when the monster was going to show its ugly eyeball. The TV version had a monster the size of a regulation footbal. A scientist, Alan Brooks (Forrest Tucker) arrives at the small alpine village of Trollenberg to investigate the decapitation of a mountaineer. Entertaining sci-fi/horror starring American man mountain Forrest Tucker as Alan Brooke, a scientist sent to investigate a mysterious cloud. I loved it for it's atmosphere and very un-special effects enhanced by black and white, and as for Jennifer Jayne - as stunning a brunette as she was a blonde in the William Tell series of the late 50's. This was fun to watch, as it brought a person back into the 1950's. Were there flaws in the plot? This film is real nostalgic nonesense and a treat for fans of the great British scary B movie era. In fact, as other reviewers have mentioned this is a cracking transfer - you only have to look at the original trailer (which is included in the extras) to see how well the film has been restored. It was a bit like those who watched as children Doctor Who from behind the settee! However, once the monster is seen, then it becomes just becomes fun in the same way that the old Doctor Who films have become classic.
